Troubleshooting File Transfers

Problems accessing files on the SST Web Site

Browser reports error message 'Server has returned extended information'

This is caused by the network's Firewall/Proxy configuration.  If there are two or more Firewalls or Proxy servers between the SST file server and your browser, the TCP PORT address information is lost in the connection attempt.  The browser then cannot establish a connection to the resource it is requesting because it doesn't know the PORT the SST file server is sending the file on.

Solutions:

1) Use a FTP client such as CuteFTP or WSFTP, or use a download manager such as GetRight or GoZilla.

2) Use the FTP command from your Command Prompt or Shell Window (in order for this to work, PORT 21 on your Proxy/Firewall must be open for communication).

Follow these steps:

If you get a window that asks you to give a username and password.

This is caused by Internet Explorer attempting to launch an application that is associated with the file type that they are downloading.

Two solutions:

1) Enter the username: anonymous and your email address as the password. This will allow you to launch the application and access the file you want to view or download

2) Right click on the URL of the file. This will give you a menu where you can select the option to Save Target as a File. If you select this option, you will get a browse window allowing you to choose where to save the file on your system.
